About Caiviar
Caiviar is an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System based on CAPI. It runs on Linux and Windows systems, and supports Text-To-Speech (most notably Realspeak and Festival), multithreading, Barge In, 3 Party Conference, G3 Fax etc.

It has a very simple interface, allowing fast creation of Telephony applications, like e.g. Voiceboxes, Authentication systems, automatic Callcenters etc.

Languages supported include Java, C++, Perl and Python

The source code for Caiviar is freely available.
Caiviar License
Caiviar is distributed under the GPL. This means you are absolutely free to use it, copy it, study it, make changes to it and redistribute it (along with the source code), as well as contribute to it's development.
It also means it is forbidden to create a product out of Caiviar for which the source code isn't availabe.
If you do wish to build a commercial product based on Caiviar without planing to publish your own sourcecode, however , you may want to look into Mobile X's commercial licensing models for Caiviar. Send mail to info@mobilexag.de for more information.

Caiviar version 0.3.5 is released.
This release contains several bugfixes.
Furthermore the delay (echo) of the connect() function has been greatly reduced.

Caiviar version 0.3.4 is released.
This version mainly adds Text-To-Speech improvements, with various new Realspeak options, and support for SVox.

This release fixes some Realspeak problems, adds a python interface, and provides support for cross-compilation via MingW.

Turned out that the version released two days ago (0.3.0) has some memory management problems, which cause certain bugs e.g. in DTMF sending. We excuse for the inconveniencesTM.
0.3.1 is on its way...

Caiviar version 0.3.0 is released. This version includes several rewrites of some key components, and has some nifty features added (like the connect() call and the audio handles in the C++ interface).
Furthermore Perl support was added.
This version may still be a little bit unstable due to the large number of new features.

phobos.fs.tum.de, the hoster of the Caiviar CVS tree, will be shut down in a few days. Until we got a new CVS Server up and running, downloading the CVS tree will not be possible.

Caiviar version 0.1.17 is released- it's now possible to dedicate specific controllers to different applications.

Found out it's actually possible to have more than one AVM Fritz! Card in one computer running Linux- and having all of them available in the Capi interface. This requires changes to the AVM driver and is a bit non-trivial, but works great. Two-Fritzcards-HOWTO gives an overview of what needs to be done.

Caiviar version 0.1.16 is released- this version fixes a few bugs which only appear when using more than one controller. (I.e. more than 2 channels)
